Miami Yacht Show 2019 opens at its brand new address

By Rebecca Bradbury   14 February 2019

The 31st edition of the Miami Yacht Show, held in conjunction with Superyacht Miami, has got underway this morning, impressing attendees with its new location in downtown Miami.

Running until 18 February, the annual yachting showcase has moved from Collins Avenue in Miami Beach to One Herald Plaza between the MacArthur and Venetian causeways on Biscayne Bay.

The new location brings the action closer to the Superyacht Miami section of the show, which has got off to a fine start at Island Gardens Deep Harbour in Watson Island.

Prime Time Preview

Also known as the ‘Prime Time Preview’, the opening day is reserved for marine professionals, boating enthusiasts and members of the media who wish to be among the first to visit the show.

Prime-time ticket holders will have the exclusive chance to visit the 500 yachts on display as well as the huge 67,000-square-foot exhibition housing 200 exhibitors before the show opens to the general public tomorrow. These exhibits form part of the original Miami Yacht Show, but access to Superyacht Miami is also included.

Today will then round up with ‘A Yacht of Love’ opening night party, which will celebrate the show’s new location in downtown Miami as well as Valentine’s Day.

Brand new features

The show’s change of setting is not the only new feature, however. Other first-time attractions include pop-up luxury retail, guest lounges, exotic cars, private aircraft and special events.

Plus, the Windward VIP Experience has returned with even more exciting privileges, such as access to a premium open bar, gourmet food, happy hours featuring award-winning chef mixology, wine tastings, private events and a water taxi service to and from Superyacht Miami.

Superyacht Miami

This satellite section of the event is where most superyachts can be found. Already proving to be the must-see yacht of the show is Lurssen’s 95m/312ft superyacht KISMET and she is joined by the likes of the 60m/197ft superyacht ‘Excellence V’ and the 50m/164ft superyacht ‘Silver Lining’.

To attend this part of the show, visitors need to purchase a ticket that grants access to both the Miami Yacht Show and Superyacht Miami. General admission ticket holders will not be granted access.
