Heesen launches second hybrid yacht Project Electra

Industry news

By Katia Damborsky  3 February 2020

Heesen has launched 50m/ 164ft motor yacht 'Project Electra', the second hybrid yacht in their 5000 aluminium FDHF (fast displacement hull form) class.

Previously known as YN 19150, Project Electra hit the water at Heesen's facilities in Oss today.

The motor yacht is the successor to charter yacht HOME which received international accolades for her innovative and eco-friendly propulsion system and fast-displacement hull design.

The hybrid power and propulsion system offers reduced noise while underway and increased fuel efficiency when compared to a traditional diesel arrangement.

Project Electra provides cost-saving benefits and flexible power management with the ability to cruise in four different modes; Hybrid Mode, Economic Mode, Cruising Mode and Boost Mode.

The yacht's exteriors have been penned by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Her profile is characterized by a straight bow, long waterline and wide portions of glazing.

Her interiors are the work of Italian studio Cristiano Gatto. She features plenty of dark colours offset by pale tones, with custom furniture and low cabinetry to allow for uninterrupted views.

Accommodation is provided for a total of 12 guests in six cabins, each with a private en-suite. The owner's cabin includes an office, a bathroom with a marble shower and vanity area.

On-board features include a sundeck with spacious jacuzzi, a foredeck lounging area, alfresco dining and a fixed swim platform.

It is not yet known whether M/Y PROJECT ELECTRA will be available for luxury yacht charters.

The news comes after the hull and superstructure of the yacht were joined in November last year.

She is now being prepped for sea trials, and delivery is expected in April 2020.
