Hainan Rendez-Vous 2014 promises to be bigger and better

By Editorial Team   16 October 2013

The 2014 Hainan Rendez-Vous will take place between the 20th and 23rd March next year and is set to be bigger than ever as it establishes itself as one of the most important international meetings for the luxury industry alongside a growing yacht market in Asia shows no signs of slowing down.

The 5th edition of The Hainan Rendez-Vous made its debut in 2010 and was founded in collaboration with the Sanya Visun Yacht Club in response to a growing demand for a comprehensive luxury lifestyle communication platform in the region. In recent years the luxury yacht market in Asia has grown substantially, with demand coming from a continually expanding group of multimillionaires and billionaires in the region.

China has experienced the most notable of changes and is set to be the next emerging market in the luxury sector, in particular yachting, partly due to an increase in wealth amongst the high-net worth individual population and partly to do with a change in attitudes in the younger generations. According to the 2012 China Wealth Report released by Boston Consulting Group in mid-January 2013, China’s high-net-worth families are mainly distributed in economically developed coastal regions with studies showing that the most favourable recreational activities among them centre around tourism.

Since the foundation of Hainan International Tourism Island in 2010 the development of the luxury yacht industry has been backed Sanya Municipal Government which has helped it to rapidly expanded in size and popularity  and attract leading worldwide brands, consumers, media and distributors of the luxury industries.

China VISUN chairman and yacht aficionado Wang Dafu commented: "We aim to transform Hainan Rendez-Vous into an internationally renowned lifestyle showcase, providing a platform where international brands can more easily and seamlessly tap into the Chinese market. We have reached letters of intent with several leading exhibitors for the 2014 event and we plan to continuously perfect Hainan Rendez-Vous with each year's event".

The 2014 Hainan Rendez-Vous will again feature theme pavilions including a new ‘Super-Yacht’ pavilion and organisers aim to collaborate with international foreign agencies and charitable organisations across all aspects of marine protection. Around 100 yachts across all types and sizes will be on display including some impressive luxury charter yachts, all in the breath-taking surroundings and warm climate of Sanya.
