HIGH-CLASS VIBES AND NO HOLDS BARRED FUN
One of the newest contenders on St Tropez’s beach club scene, Bagatelle Beach has rapidly become a destination of choice for influencers, trendsetters and the international jetset.
After its sweeping success in the US, Brazil and St Barts, the Bagatelle concept was transferred to Pampelonne Beach in 2012. Taking up a posh piece of sand next to Nikki Beach, it’s the new ‘must-go’ establishment for those seeking out quintessential joie de vivre and a swish party atmosphere.
Scores of navy blue sun loungers unfurl across the fine white sand right up to the water’s edge, luring the beautiful to indulge in all-day bronzing sessions with a full waiter service on hand.
From this perspective, patrons looking out to sea are met with views of luxury yachts anchored offshore in the glittering turquoise waters. Guaranteed to catch their eyes are the yacht-goers taking the tender to a nearby jetty and effortlessly arriving at the venue.
All driftwood, wicker and rope, the low-slung, white-washed dining room is effortlessly at one with the relaxed but luxuriant feel of the French Riviera. Generously sized tables shaded by oversized white umbrellas welcome large plates of delicious dishes made to be shared among friends.
Heading up the kitchen is chef Nicolas Cantrel, a one-time pupil of Alain Ducaise. Combining classical French training with a touch of whimsy, he serves up creative takes on traditional Mediterranean fare. Pick from the likes of whole roasted chicken with truffles, yellow fin tuna tartare and artichoke ravioli.
At dusk, Bagatelle Beach truly comes into its own. A soundtrack of laidback beats revs up as the venue lives up to its reputation as an exclusive party hangout, with varying degrees of debauchery.
