Showcasing the best in international cinema, Venice’s 76th annual Film Festival will transform the city into a buzzing hub of culture attended by all of the A-listers.
Taking place for 10 days between 28 August to 7 September, the Venice Film Festival is the longest-running film event in the world, and promises to bring a sensational atmosphere, glittering parties, and of course, some of the finest superyachts in the world to the Lido of Venice.
The festival is a celebration of film as an art form, as an entertainment facet and as an industry. Competing for prestigious accolades, the stars and directors of the latest blockbusters and independent films flock to the red carpets of Palazzo del Cinema for the awards ceremonies each year.
The highest honour is winning the Golden Lion and, last year, it was Alfonso Cuaron who scooped it up for his deeply personal film, ‘Roma’, which portrays his life growing up in Mexico. Retrospectives and tributes are also held as a way of contributing towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.
During the festival, celebrities can often be spotted perusing the cobbled streets of Venice or soaking up the glamour at one of the after-show parties. What’s more, since the film screenings are open to the general public, it’s not unheard of for attendees to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in cinema.
The event wouldn’t be complete without an impressive line-up of yachts in the marina opposite St Marks Square and it’s now possible to organise a Venice Film Festival yacht charter. From the comfort of their luxury yachts, charter guests will be able to look out over breathtaking architecture and a lively social scene.
But should they choose to disembark, exclusive parties, world-class eateries and authentic Italian culture are right on their doorstep. To find out about chartering a superyacht for the festival, speak to your preferred charter broker.
