Despite sitting just 9 nautical miles from Croatia’s second-largest city Split, the island of  Šolta is definitely one of the lesser-known islands in the Dalmatia region. Packed with pristine bays and unique landscapes that are great for exploring, Šolta promises a truly mesmerizing superyacht charter destination for all involved.

Šolta’s southern side is a true treasure for boaters, hikers and inquisitive souls.  The indented oases are mostly only accessible by boat and are ideal for exploration adventures, swimming, fishing and snorkeling. Anchor down at Tatinja Bay where the turquoise, crystal clear sea is protected against both northern and south-eastern winds providing you with the perfect anchorage for a day soaking up the Croatian sunshine. Other popular bays include the likes of Šešula, Poganica and Zaglav.

2. The old town of Grohote

As Šolta’s oldest, largest and most important settlement throughout history, the village is incredibly charming and lures visitors thanks to its architecture and picturesque streets. It is located in the middle of the island, just 1.5km away from Šolta’s main port, Rogač. The village is dominated by the neo-Renaissance Church of St Stephen which is built right next to the remains of an Early Christian basilica.

As you soak up the splendor of the village, keep a lookout for the Slavić tower, an old castle owned by a noble family from Split, developed over three stages – with the final part built in the 19th Century to ward off attacks against pirates.
