Hands down Australia’s most famous beach, its wide crescent of pearly white sands lapped by turquoise waters have attracted visitors from all over the globe since the 50s and 60s. A haven for surfer dudes and party animals, this stretch of bay on Sydney’s eastern shores is the perfect stop-off on your Australia yacht charter.
Most visitors come to Bondi for the reliable curling breaks and sun-kissed sands, where you can learn to surf – and perhaps end the day cresting your very own wave! If you’re a little nervous about what might lurk beneath, there are sea pools which offer the same vibe, without the big fish – perfect for those traveling with little ones.
You can also discover more about Bondi’s unique history and meet a Bondi surf lifesaver on a Let’s Go Surfing’s Discover Bondi Walking Tour. However, there are plenty of other activities on offer if sun worshipping and surfing aren’t your thing.
There are myriad cafes and restaurants that line the parade running parallel with the beach, catering to everyone’s tastes; from burger and chips stalls to award-winning restaurants with stunning views across the bay. You’ll also find a number of high-end boutiques and designer stores if you have the urge to splash some cash.
If you are feeling active, you can take the 6 km Coastal Walk which runs from Bondi to Coogee, where you can enjoy spectacular views from the cliff tops. For those in need of refueling, the trail is peppered with cafes along the way. There are also a number of other beaches lining the walk where you can stop-off and enjoy a more secluded beachside experience away from the crowds.
Bondi Beach does get quite busy in the peak summer months between December and January, but as an institution in its own right, you should visit the beach at least once to truly appreciate the electric atmosphere and iconic scenery.
