Breathtaking Mount Cook and Pukaki Lake, New Zealand

25th August 2014

This beautiful image of the azure Pukaki Lake set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Cook on New Zealand’s South Island perfectly shows the incredible diversity of the region’s natural beauty.

Lying in the South Pacific waters are the two spectacularly varied islands of New Zealand that together offer adventure, luxury and natural beauty in abundance to create the ultimate superyacht vacation. The waters that surround the islands boast some of the world’s finest cruising grounds, anchorages and sailing conditions and have long been a favourite of the discerning yachtsmen. Now, with charter clients looking for increasingly adventurous yachting experiences away from the more traditional superyacht destinations, New Zealand is fast becoming the charter choice for many.

Home to the ‘City of the Sails’ Auckland and renowned for its magnificent beaches and idyllic off-lying islands, North Island represents New Zealand’s main international gateway. Providing a great base for endless exploration, its bustling cosmopolitan cities will appeal to those looking for a slice of urban exclusivity while islands such as Waiheke, the Coromandel Peninsula, Great Barrier Island, Poor Knights Islands, and the Bay of Islands can occupy even the most restless of travellers.

South Island meanwhile is known better for its wilder, mountainous landscapes where charter guests get truly get back to nature with an extensive offering of outdoor activities on water and on land. Cruise past a varied landscape of mountains, waterfalls, fjords and lakes, and sun-drenched plains bursting with vineyards. It is worth spending a few days exploring the Marlborough Sounds at the top of South Island. One of New Zealand’s premier cruising grounds, it offers more than 1,000miles of coastline that abound with beautiful coves, vast stretches of sandy beaches and many wineries.
