By Rebecca Bradbury   17 September 2018

The 41st edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival drew to a close on Sunday 16 September, following six successful days of superyacht showcases, boat builder exhibits and luxury lifestyle offerings.

More than 500,000 visitors from across the world flocked to Cannes last week to discover the very best in luxury yachting at the must-see annual event.

Close to 640 boats, ranging from five to 50 metres, were on display across the town’s two ports - the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto – with nearly 120 new models on view for the very first time.

An eclectic mix of vessels was on show in the Vieux Port, including multi-hulls, tall ships, sailing yachts, and sport, fly and fishing boats. Among the most impressive, however, were the brand new luxury yachts lined up in the ‘Super Yachts Extension’.

Some of the models making their world premieres were the Silent 55, a solar-electric production catamaran from Silent-Yachts, the Majesty 125 ALTAVITA and the Majesty 100 SVETLANA from Gulf Craft, and the latest in the 120 and Navetta 42 ranges by Ferretti Group's Custom Line.

Other top boat builders on hand to present their latest launches and upcoming projects included British yards Sunseeker and Princess, Sanlorenzo and Benetti from Italy and Numarine from Turkey.

Future owners and enthusiasts were given the opportunity to test drive the new boats, with up to 80 percent of the fleet able to be taken out of the port for sea trials.

The Vieux Port area of the show also hosted the Luxury Gallery, dedicated to luxury, crafts and lifestyle, and exhibitors such as shipyards, architects and designers in the nearby Palais des Festivals.

Meanwhile, the yacht displays continued across the Bay of Cannes in Port Pierre Canto. This area focused on superyachts available for sale and charter, with the likes of the 50m/164ft charter yacht LIBERTY and the 44m/145ft charter yacht ‘Muchos Mas’ among the biggest in attendance.

A shuttle service was on hand to transport attendees from the Vieux Port to Port Pierre Canto. Quayside, brokers and charter companies were on the ground assisting visitors interested in making an acquisition or chartering, while a new toy zone showcased the latest water toys on the market.

Other highlights of the show included the fourth edition of the Concours d’Elegance, a parade of vintage and modern day boats, and the presentation of the World Yacht Trophies.
