Superyacht Genevieve Wins the Dubois Cup

By Editorial Team   7 June 2013

The fourth edition of the much anticipated Dubois Cup 2013 concluded in spectacular style on the 3rd of June with 37m sloop Genevieve taking home the win.

The prestigious invite-only event kicked off on the 1st June with 14 Dubois-designed sailing yachts making their way to Porto Cervo for high-octane racing and a full social programme. Eight of the yachts competed over two days, where sunshine, blue skies and 15 knots of wind created perfect sailing conditions on the beautiful waters of the Costa Smerelda.

On the last day, the 45m Salperton IV was first to cross the line, picking her way out from seventh to take the lead with Olympic gold-medallist Shirley Robertson at the helm and Ian Walker from the Volvo Ocean Race as Tactician. Charter yacht Genevieve won the cup on aggregate time after a fantastic racing display throughout the regatta whilst the 50m Zefira took second place overall, followed by the 30m Nostromo in third. Other sailing yachts competing included the 36.7m Bliss, 51.7m Prana, and the 45m Timoneer.

Genevieve’s delighted Captain Tony Pular and owner Tom Saylak took the time to commend her crew for all their hard work, commenting:  ‘This performance is way above average for us, we’re really pleased to have won the Cup. And I think it’s important to point out that none of our crew are paid: They’re all friends and colleagues and people who have been associated with the boat from the beginning, so that makes it really special for us. If we’re here in two years, we’ll absolutely come back and do this regatta again.’

To end the event, racing owners, crews and guests gathered at the YCCS Clubhouse for the prize-giving ceremony where each member of the fleet received a special award in addition to the top three yachts. Genevieve was presented with the beautiful carbon-fibre sail trophy designed by Bubois Naval Architects, accepted by her entire crew who took to the stage to huge applause and cheers from the rest of the fleet.

Genevieve is available for charter from €63,000 per week and is perfect for both private sailing yacht charter vacations and regatta charters, offering high performance and luxurious accommodation. Built in 1996 by Alloy Yachts, she was last refitted in 2010 and sleeps up to nine guests in four staterooms. For more information on chartering this yacht contact your yacht charter broker
