The resort and 55-slip marina on Scrub Island, the first full-service resort in the BVI, has now reopened for business one year after Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc on the Virgin Islands.
Months of intensive work have returned Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina to its original grandeur with some areas boasting significant improvements.
The fully-renovated marina, for example, features a number of updates, including new docks, new pedestals providing access to power and water and new lighting including underwater illumination.
Upgrades have also been made to the resort’s 52 guestrooms and suites. Twenty-six of these accommodations are now available and the remainder will be ready in December.
Other changes include the rebranding of its causal and upscale dining options and the return of the Ixora Spa. Travellers berthing at the marina on their yacht charter will be able to make use of these renovated facilities as well as a variety of shopping opportunities.
Of the 55 slips in the marina, five are available for superyachts up to 48 metres in length. As the island is located at the east end of Tortola in the BVI, it certainly makes a great stop off on a British Virgin Islands yacht charter for those interested in gourmet dining and indulgent spa services.
Superyachts can also anchor off the coast allowing those on board to take the tender ashore to make use of the facilities.
The good news follows confirmation that the British Virgin Islands are ready for charters this winter after many worked hard to repair the damage caused by Hurricane Irma in September 2017.
