New air route makes Indonesia yacht charters even more accessible

By Rebecca Bradbury   29 October 2018

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched non-stop flights between New York and Singapore, making it even easier for charterers to reach South East Asian destinations such as Indonesia and Malaysia.

The new direct route became the world’s longest non-stop flight when it began operating earlier this month. Taking 19 hours, it cuts out the previous stopover in Frankfurt or London.

Serving the route are SIA’s new Airbus 350-900ULR aircraft, which will also be used for new non-stop flights between Singapore and Los Angeles, to be launched on 2 November. By the end of the year, SIA will have seven non-stop flights per week between Singapore and the United States.

As Singapore serves as the gateway to Indonesia, the new route will improve ease of access to the sprawling island-chain and make some of the most beautiful cruising grounds on the planet, such as the Raja Ampat Islands and Komodo, even more accessible.

Made up of 1,500-odd islands, Raja Ampat is truly one of the most beautiful archipelagos in South East Asia and remains largely unknown to foreign tourists. Untouched and uninhabited, it offers glittering white sand beaches, luminous turquoise waters and steep, jungle-covered interiors.

The major draw, however, has to be its staggering marine diversity and pristine coral reef systems. It is a scuba diver’s dream and begs to be explored by luxury charter yacht.

A spectacular underwater world and fabulous landscapes are also features of Komodo and neighbour Flores. Yet, nothing compares to the legendary Komodo dragons that inhabit the interior of these two islands which are part of a protected national park.

An Indonesia yacht charter promises unique experiences for all to enjoy, and Malaysia likewise stands out for its distinctive off-the-beaten-track appeal, whether it’s the sun-kissed islands of the peninsula, including Penang and Langkawi, or wildlife-rich Malaysian Borneo.
