Running from today until the 22nd March against the charming backdrop of Virgin Gorda, BVI, sublime sailing conditions are on offer here due to the warm Caribbean trade winds. The title Sponsor of the event, Loro Piana, will host the yacht owners for an exquisite dinner at the YCCS Virgin Gorda Clubhouse this evening, while tomorrow will see an intimate cocktail reception for superyacht owners hosted by Pamela and David V. Johnson along with Embraer Executive Jets.
A vast range of yachts will compete over three days of racing. Divided by class, they compete against one another for the prestigious champions title. This year's entries include a collection of new superyachts including the ShowBoats Design Award-winning Perini Navi sailing yacht SEAHAWK. Returning sailing yachts include charter yacht AIYANA from Alia Yachts and the 22m sailing yacht FREYA and a flotilla of motor yachts also participating in the Rendezvous will cruise beside the racing to follow the action.
Before departure on the last day of the regatta, the competitors and guests will attend a prize giving ceremony on the YCCS Virgin Gorda lawn to commend the racing victors, including the team that will receive the Spirit of the Regatta prize. Captains and crew will all be invited to celebrate their regatta success at a dedicated crew party sponsored by BVI Tourism and Marina Casa de Campo.
