Build-Up for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2017 Begins

By Rebecca Bradbury   17 November 2017

Momentum is building on Yas Marina Island, Abu Dhabi, as some of the world’s finest superyachts arrive for the 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which kicks off next week on 24th November and concludes on 26th November in the final race of this year’s Formula 1 season.

Throughout the upcoming week, around 245 vessels are expected to descend on Yas Island in time for three thrilling days of exhilarating racing and glittering parties.

One of the most highly-anticipated events in both the yachting and sporting calendar, the grand prix unfolds on the Yas Marina Circuit, putting the impressive crowds of superyachts at the very heart of the action.

Lewis Hamilton may have clinched the 2017 world title in Mexico last month but Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull will be hungry for victory to take the final bragging rights of the season.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas are still fighting to secure second place in the Drivers’ Championship and, in the Constructors’, the battle for sixth place reaches its height with Toro Rosso, Renault and Haas split by just six points.

On top of the nail-biting trackside action, grand prix-goers can catch four of the biggest names in music performing at the Yasalam after-race concerts. These include Calvin Harris, hip hop star J Cole, British indie-rock band Mumford & Sons and American pop star Pink.

Nightclubs and bars will also be hosting post-race parties. Pick from the LoveParties event in the Skylite roof top bar in the Viceroy, the original Amber Lounge Grand Prix after-party, Balearic beats at Yas Beach’s El Chiringguito and top DJ sets at Iris, an idyllic hangout overlooking the marina.

Among the superyachts in attendance will be a number of charter yachts. Take advantage of this opportunity and secure the very best seats in the house and your very own party venue as part of an event charter.

Among these the yachts which may still have charter availability are the 73m/239ft superyacht TITANIA from Lurssen and Benetti’s 65m/211ft superyacht ‘Silver Angel’ and 59m/195ft superyacht MEAMINA.
