Stylish refit on superyacht ABILITY for 2020 summer charter

By David Lazarevic   25 November 2019

The 41m/ 13ft superyacht ABILITY is currently undergoing an intensive winter refit in preparation for her 2020 charter season in Greece.

AIS data shows that she was sent to Athens a month ago where she has currently been going through a makeover that appears to present future charterers with a sleeker, more minimalist aesthetic, offering guests a refreshing yacht charter experience.

She debuted in 2004, she was delivered to her original owner, Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, boasting an exterior design by Design Studio Spadolini and couture-inspired interior by Studio Gagliardi.

The original concept decorated the yacht’s interior in snakeskin and animal fur highlighting every inch of the interior with plush fabrics and materials creating an interesting opulent energy that exuded luxury and sophistication.

It is not yet clear if the designers are completely renovating the interior design or if some of ABILITY’s previous embellishments will carry through to the current refit, nor is information available to confirm whether or not her deck will benefit from an extension. However, it can be assumed that this interior refresh will lead to a promising charter season cruising around the Mediterranean.

Stylistically, the designers seem to be targetting a more moderate approach, focusing heavily on space practicality and streamlined furniture which compliments her naval architecture and, overall, presents the guests with a more functional and fashionable superyacht.

So far we there have been a few changes, such as replacing her square dining table in favour of a slimmer rectangular one, which, although appearing smaller, seats two more guests.

Her rear deck also boasts a sleeker, less cluttered seating arrangement configuring couture loungers and sofas, resulting in the deck space appearing airier and more capacious to host lively gatherings overlooking the glistening water.

Presents future charterers with a sleeker, more minimalist aesthetic, offering guests a refreshing yacht charter experience.

Likewise, her main salon is brighter, fresher, and much more neutral upon trading in her grandiose and intricately designed furniture in place of minimalist dining tables and flush furnishing, accentuating the breathtaking view from the windows that line the area.

The simplicity in this redesign dramatically contrasts with the original layout, and although less affluently detailed offers a canvas that should appeal to every type of guest

The master suite has also benefitted from the redesign and appears less bold, much more spacious and adept, yet still retains a certain level of luxury and sophistication that is bound to impress any future charterers.

Currently, the refit is a dramatic interior redesign solely to improve ABILITY's versatility and functionality, making her an ideal superyacht tailored for every variety of charterer.

The full extent of the refit is not yet public, however, there is no doubt that once completely refitted that ABILITY will be the yacht on every official’s lips and will be one of the finer superyacht’s for charter in 2020.
