5 of the Best Superyachts Attending the Mediterranean Yacht Show 2017

By Rebecca Bradbury   27 April 2017

The fourth edition of the Mediterranean Yacht Show is expected to welcome an impressive fleet of more than 80 yachts to Nafplion harbour in Greece on Saturday 29th April. We round up five of the top superyachts on display.

Organised by the Greek Yachting Association (GYA), the four-day event is targeted at industry professionals. Timed to coincide with the start of the summer yachting season, the show enables charter brokers to check out the finest charter yachts cruising the region over the upcoming months.

Superyachts in attendance will open their doors for yacht viewings and exclusive lunches, and captains and crew will be on hand to answer questions and provide guided tours. Chefs, meanwhile, will be fighting it out in the popular chefs’ competition.

YachtCharterFleet will be at the show too but, before the team departs for Greece, here is a round-up of five of the best superyachts signed up to attend 2017's Mediterranean Yacht Show.

CAPRI I

The largest superyacht in show will be the 59m/192ft motor yacht ‘Capri I’. A renowned 2003 build from German shipyard Lurssen, she was a favourite at last year’s edition and, after undergoing upgrades earlier this year, she will once again be one of the must-see yachts in Nafplion harbour.

Built to incredibly high standards, she showcases exceptional craftsmanship throughout. She has an unusually large volume for a yacht of her length, allowing multiple entertainment areas across her five decks, from a traditional main salon and dining room to a spacious sundeck.

Other highlights include an air-conditioned gymnasium, a library complete with a grand piano and a top deck observation room. An on-board masseuse ensures charter guests can indulge in spa treatments after having fun on the water thanks to a brilliant selection of the latest water toys.

O’NEIRO

Another popular attendee will be the 53m/173ft superyacht O’NEIRO delivered by Golden Yachts in 2015. Boasting a glittering blue hull and red boot strap, she will be easy to spot lined up in port, and her deck areas and interior spaces are similarly captivating.

A regular on the charter scene in Greece and Turkey, she features beautiful oak and maple floors, and Zebrano wood in the main salon, and this luxurious styling continues into the skylounge and seven sophisticated staterooms.

On deck, there are ample areas for both relaxation and socialising, with the sundeck capable of hosting large numbers for cocktails or alfresco dining. There is also a Jacuzzi and bar, and for a more intimate spot head to the secluded seating area on the foredeck.

OURANOS

Attending the show for the first time and expected to make a big impression is the 50m/164ft superyacht OURANOS. Launched in April 2016 from Italian shipyard Admiral Yachts, she will begin her second charter season cruising the Greek islands after the show closes on Tuesday 2nd May.

Sure to turn heads, her sleek and contemporary profile maximises space on board, and matches the modern interior design from Gianmarco Campanino. Her enviable facilities include an on-water beach club, a plethora of water toys, and a wellness hub with a massage centre and gymnasium.

However, no matter whether exploration or relaxation is on the agenda, OURANOS will definitely excel on a private yacht charter and, what’s more, she has been named the most silent yacht in the world in her category as tested by RINA.

BARENTS SEA

Also standing out in port thanks to an electric blue, steeply-raked hull is the 41m/137ft superyacht ‘Barents Sea’. Combining power and performance with absolute comfort, she was delivered in 2008 from Italian yard Mondo Marine and has been wowing all those who step aboard ever since.

Celebrating modern minimalism, her Luca Dini-designed interior is unique among the charter fleet. Fine Italian furnishings and fabrics in a neutral colour palette are highlighted by splashes of colour, with rainbow-hued LED lights illuminating the cabins, as well as the exterior bar.

A modular setup allows crew members to arrange the seating to suit any occassion, and she features a Nordic-style Jacuzzi alongside sun loungers on the fly deck, a projector for movie nights at sea in the upper deck lounge and an aft swim platform perfect for launching the on-board water toys.

PANDION

Originally built for the Sultan of Brunei, Heesen’s 37m/121ft superyacht PANDION is certainly not to be missed at this year’s show. With a golden metallic hue, sleek lines and an outstanding top speed of 40 knots, her demanding presence on the water is impossible to ignore.

Fresh from a 2016 refit, she will be one of the highlights of the 2017 edition, with charter brokers keen to step aboard. Ultra-modern styling using the finest materials create a sumptuous retreat inside, while the deck spaces provide the ultimate in outdoor living.

Multiple seating options provide a huge choice of areas for socialising, dining and unwinding, and the entertainment options continue with state-of-the-art technology and a large collection of water toys, from WaveRunners and Seabobs to towable toys and kayaks.
