The 160.43ft Conversion expedition motor yacht 'Western Isles' was built by Ishikawajima-Harima in Japan at their Tokyo shipyard , she was delivered to her owner in 1974 and last refitted in 2005 by HYS Yachts. Previously named Shumpu Maru,
Western Isles's interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 14 guests overnight in 7 cabins, comprising a master suite, 2 VIP staterooms, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 9 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
After being completely refitted in the Philippines in 2005, this ex- Japanese weather research vessel is now based in Hong Kong. As part of the huge refurbishment project, she was stripped down to the bare steel and rebuilt for private use by her Hong Kong owner. She now offers a full-beam master suite with magnificent views and a sky saloon. The top deck features an elegant bar, Jacuzzi and spacious sun beds.
Powered by 1 Daihatsu 750hp diesel engines and propelled by her single screw propeller Motor yacht Western Isles is capable of a top speed of 12 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 100,000 litres fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 0 nautical miles. Her water tanks store around 80,000 litres of fresh water.
