Q

QUESTION:

My partner and I are looking to cruise the Bahamas next year. Can you tell me when the best time of year to go would be? We ideally want to go when it is driest, sunniest and hottest.

ANSWER:

The Bahamas is one of the very few cruising destinations aorund the world that is actually great to sail around, more or less, any time of the year thanks to its fair climate, and rather quiet, shallow waters - except during the Hurricane season.

Although the hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through November 30, along the U.S. East Coast and in the Eastern Caribbean, it tends to be strongest between mid-August to mid-September.

Along the Western Caribbean, it actually starts mid-September and runs into early November.
