Lurssen Yacht ‘Coral Island’ Joins the Global Charter Fleet as Superyacht ‘Coral Ocean’

By Rebecca Bradbury   1 July 2016

Following a refit over the winter, Lurssen’s 73m/238ft yacht ‘Coral Island’ has been renamed superyacht ‘Coral Ocean’ and will be available to charter for the very first time. Open in the Mediterranean, she will also make an appearance at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.

Originally launched in 1994, Coral Ocean was one of the first masterpieces from the late designer and stylist, Jon Bannenberg, celebrated for creating her clean exterior lines and stunning Polynesian interior.

Always beautifully maintained, the motor yacht spent the winter at Lurssen’s shipyard facilities in Germany, undergoing updates to conform to the necessary charter requirements.

Throughout her 22 years, she has only ever been privately used and her interior has remained much of a mystery. However, guests lucky enough to charter the yacht this summer are sure to be wowed by her refreshed beach house-style.

At the forefront of yachting innovations, luxury yacht Coral Ocean was one of the first superyachts to be delivered with a dedicated gym and spa area, which was considered a sensation at the time.

After over two decades of use, she remains in outstanding condition, which is a testament to the high-quality craftsmanship for which Lurssen is renowned and also reflects the excellence of the yard’s refit capabilities.

Indeed, Coral Island joins the ranks of the 90m/295ft charter yacht ‘Phoenix 2’, the 110m/360ft superyacht RADIANT and the 67m/220ft superyacht GLOBAL: Lurssen builds that have undergone refits at the yard in recent years.

To conclude the Mediterranean charter season, she will be showcasing her transformation at the Monaco Yacht Show, which runs from September 28 to October 1.
