The 131.23ft custom Sail yacht 'Alithia' was built by Abeking & Rasmussen in Germany at their Lemwerder shipyard , she was delivered to her owner in 2002. The yacht's interior has been designed by Andrew Winch.
Alithia's interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests overnight in 3 cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard in 3 cabins to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
To develop a superyacht with world-class sailing speed and worldwide reach the designers developed a relatively narrow boat, to achieve the goal of speed combined with good sailing qualities. Studies showed this feature would allow a better riding and faster boat. They maximized the waterline length to give the highest performance hull shape and yield the best load carrying capacity; this also increases the living space. Carrying displacement over a greater waterline changed seeming conflicts into common gains. It allows the boat to remain well balanced when heeled -- enabling the boat to be easily controlled by her cable steering -- and requires less energy to sail past hull speed.
Powered by 1 MTU 600hp diesel engines and propelled by her single screw propeller sailing yacht Alithia is capable of a top speed of knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots when powered by her engine. Her water tanks store around 3,950 litres of fresh water.
The carbon rig and furling boom combine ease of sailing with performance. The sail plan has a 160' masthead rig with a non-overlapping jib and high roach main sail. The deck plan features a low pilothouse on a flush deck with hidden captive winches, flush hatches, and under-deck sheets.
