8 Day Virgin Islands Charter Itinerary - St John to St Thomas
Cruising The Virgin Islands
Ideal for Winter Season
Although split up into little groups, the Virgin Islands are all spectacular in their own way. On this week long tour, your luxury charter yacht will escort you to some of the US and British Virgin Islands. The combination of Caribbean charm, idyllic settings and cultural personality this island tour will give you plenty to talk about when you return home. Your adventure begins when you meet up with your chosen vessel on the island of Charlotte. The marina of Crown Bay has everything you could possibly want on a luxury holiday, so on your evening before raising anchor enjoy the festivities and toast your first glass of Caribbean rum.
- Day 1
Drifting away from civilisation, your first day in the Virgin Islands is spent on the beautiful island of St John.
Bordered by luscious sandy beaches, the pristine condition of St John is outstanding. Fringed with palms and more vegetation inland there is the picture postcard presence here which will want to make you stay forever. Spend the morning relaxing on the soft sands before exploring the surrounding area.
Your to do list today comprises mostly of investigating the world below the water’s surface. Introduce yourself to the Virgin Island marine life by snorkelling or diving around the coastline. There are also some coves to see, including Hurricane Cove which is a natural three sided shelter big enough to protect your vessel should a hurricane hit. Hence the name.
Your first evening out in the Virgin Islands can be spent onboard your luxury charter yacht with a candlelit dinner and some refreshing cocktails.
- Day 2
Before heading to the island of Tortola, your first point of call is Trunk Bay.
Still on the island of St John, Trunk Bay is another stunning white sandy beach which is the epitomy of the Caribbean look and feel. Instead of lounging on the beach, head further inland to visit the Trunk Bay Plantation ruins. These historical sugar plantation ruins are an essential part of the island’s history and make for an interesting morning.
Continuing on to the island of Tortola, your luxury charter yacht will next anchor down at Cane Garden Bay. This quiet area of the Virgin Islands is in close proximity to a local village which offers a great insight in to Caribbean life. Try local delicacies and listen to some interesting stories before indulging in a banquet for supper as the sunset casts a shadow over your rum punch.
- Day 3
After enjoying a freshly prepared lunch at Soper’s Hole on Tortola, your crew will charter across to Norman Island.
Locally known for being the island which inspired the clasic novel of Treasure Island, Norman Island is one of the more popular locations in the Virgin Islands. Anchoring down in The Bight, you have the opportunity to spend some time on beach or you can explore some of the caves around the coastline.
Water sports are in order for the afternoon to burn some built up energy. Give the jet skis a spin or take your time with a leisurely glide on a paddleboat. Why not take your toys for a stroll as you visit the famous floating bar. Converted from a Baltic ship, the floating bar attracts many luxury charter yacht enthusiasts and is perhaps the most iconic bar for miles around.
- Day 4
Known for it’s heavenly beaches, Peter’s Island is certainly going to bring a smile to your face.
Start off the day by anchoring down at Great Harbor to enjoy a leisurely stroll across the white sands before heading to the Peter Island Resort for a star quality brunch and some water sports time. Grab your own gear from the luxury charter yacht or join the other holidaymakers at the resort with windsurfing and water skiing.
After fulfilling your need for an adrenaline rush with exciting water sports, continue round the coast of Peter’s Island and meet up with Dead Man’s Bay. Named after the discovery of drowned pirates on the sands, this beach is particularly popularwith visitors and even comes with a bar and restaurant with the same name as the bay. Before having a generous helping of supper from the resident restaurant, explore the world beneath the waves for a special treat.
Try some snorkelling, or take a dive, around your luxury charter yacht to see some impressive collections of corals and sea grass. While in the depths keep your eyes peeled as you may be very lucky to see some sea turtles. They don’t come up close so keep your eyes searching all the time.
- Day 5
If you thought Peter’s Island was something of natural beauty, wait until you arrive at Virgin Gorda.
A big contender for one of the most visually appealing islands on the area, Virgin Gorda sports stunning stretches of beaches, fringed with palms and other indigenous flora and fauna as well as impeccable turquoise waters and a great selection of marine life.
Your fifth day of your luxury charter yacht tour of the Virgin Islands is yours to spend as you wish. Despite the incredible beauty of Virgin Gorda it is remarkably quiet so you have the chance to enjoy a day of peace and solitude. Take some time to top up your tan on the beautiful beaches and cool off by adventuring round the water’s surface with some snorkelling time.
Your one item on the to do list when visiting Virgin Gorda is to experience the natural whirpools. Large granite boulders form naturally made Jacuzzis collectively known as The Baths. Sink into the sea water for a spa like indulgence and sip on a glass of champagne to complete the picture.
Top off the day with fine dining aboard your luxury vessel.
- Day 6
North Sound, Virgin Gorda, and The Bitter End Yacht Club
A day of adrenaline pumping excitement awaits you on day six as you cruise round to North Sound.
Still on the island of Virgin Gorda, North Sound provides an exciting diving opportunity. There’s plenty of marine creatures to see in the depths, in addition to the ever beautiful collection of corals, but the excitement of these waters are the manmade items. The underater scene around North Sound features various artefacts which are leftover from different shipwrecks in the British Virgin Islands. Take a good look round and return to the surface for a short break before moving on to more exciting activities.
While you enjoy a seafood lunch aboard your luxury charter yacht your crew will charter the short distance to Bitter End. The resort here is very popular with luxury charter uacht enthusiasts and is the ultimate playground for water sports fans.
