Guide to Porto Pollo

A hot spot for wind surfers and kite surfers all summer

Porto Pollo’s sleepy Sardinian seaside town reputation is in stark contrast to its perfect environment for adrenaline fuelled water sports. Throughout the summer, kite surfers, sailors and wind surfing enthusiasts from around the world make their way here to enjoy world-class conditions and beautiful settings.

On Sardinia’s northeastern shore in the commune of Palau lies Porto Pollo. It boasts two large bays that fan out to lavender-covered dunes and 7 km of coastline with an array of golden sandy beaches, almost all of which are home to a water sports school of some kind. The clear waters and sandy coast are surrounded by bushes of emerald green scrubland, uniting the mainland and the beautiful Isola dei Gabbiani (or Isuledda).

Whether you’re a seasoned wind surfer or a beginner wind surfer, the open layout of the bays makes them perfect for all levels and an ideal opportunity to take advantage of the collection of water toys on board your private luxury yacht. However, this area is renowned for being one of the best spots for diving on a Mediterranean superyacht charter, thus attracting the heavyweights of competitive water sports.

For those less inclined to take to the waters on a board, this stop-off creates an environment where you can relax and truly escape the stresses of reality. There’s a smattering of bars and restaurants a coastline, full of secret coves, views of the spectacular Maddalena islands and uninterrupted sunset views from the decks of your superyacht. It’s also a good base for exploring nearby areas such as the archaeological site of Filitosa, the wild beauty of Punta Sardegna and the natural monument of Roccia dell’Orso.

Whether you need to blow the cobwebs away with days full of water sports or surrender to relaxation and escape reality, Porto Pollo has everything you need as part of your Italy charter itinerary. See all the crewed private yachts available in Sardinia to get inspired.
