Sailing Yacht 'Athena' - Bird's Eye View from Crow's Nest

23rd June 2014

The world’s largest sailing yacht for charter, the 90m/295’ ATHENA, truly encompasses the golden age of sail. A trip up one of Athena’s mast top hydraulically operated crow’s nests gives a bird’s eye view over an expanse of teak decking as Athena presents herself at night with her underwater lights.

On arrival in 2004, ATHENA was widely considered to be a technological wonder due to her Alustar hull and superstructure built at Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman. She impressively combines the performance of a leading modern yacht with a classic design to be one of the most luxurious three mastered schooners. Pieter Beeldsnijder and Rebecca Bradley created an interior, refitted in 2011, with mahogany and the softest furnishings and fabrics to provide ultimate relaxation.

A champion in entertaining guests, she boasts an ultra-modern media lounge on the bridge deck, an extensive library as well as a range of lavish amenities and a variety of water toys on board. Guests also can frequent a gym full of state of the art equipment. For dining, her galley sets the scene for 5-star dining or alternatively al-fresco dining on the aft of the observation point.

The vast space of multi-award winning ATHENA can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 luxury staterooms, including an indulgent master suite, three double cabins and one twin cabin. She is currently available for cruises in Australia and New Zealand.
