Matevulu Blue Hole, Vanuatu

7th April 2014

With laws recently changing to allow superyachts to charter in and around the beautifully blue South Pacific waters of Vanuatu, this spectacular region is sure to become a favourite for luxury yachting vacations.

The archipelago offers a number of world-class dive sites ranging from the famous sunken US military equipment at ‘Million Dollar Point’ to countless coral reefs around the more than 80 tropical islands. Vanuatu is also famous for its Blue Holes, and the Matevulu is the largest on the island of Espiritu Santo. With a diameter of 30m and crystal-clear depths of 18m, the hole is the source of the Nalaiafu River and is spectacularly back-dropped by huge banyan trees and hibiscus plants.

Chartering a luxury yacht is the best way to experience the vast scattering of Vanuatu islands, hooping from one paradise to another in comfort. The unspoilt landscapes make for scenic coastal cruising whilst the pristine beaches, active volcanoes, and breath-taking waterfalls ensure there is much to do on a day ashore.
