A Preview of the Palma Superyacht Show 2017

By Rebecca Bradbury   24 April 2017

The fifth edition of the Palma Superyacht Show will open its doors on Friday 28th April, showcasing a 70-strong fleet of superyachts available for both sale and charter in the beautiful Spanish island of Mallorca.

An industry-only event, the four-day Palma Superyacht Show runs concurrently with the well-established Boat Show Palma and, with its relaxed, social atmosphere, provides the perfect marketing platform for yachting companies.

As well as scores of both motor and sailing yachts lined up for inspection in Marina Port de Mallorca, there will be 50 international exhibitors presenting their services to the industry and excellent networking opportunities thanks to a vibrant events programme.

What’s more, the 2017 edition is expanding with a brand new refit and repair area. Located towards Muelle Viejo, the section will accommodate 22 fully-equipped stands, and reflects how Palma has transformed into one of the Mediterranean’s top spots for yacht servicing and maintenance.

Accompanying this new sector of the show will be a bar and large tent, where cutting-edge presentations and product launches will take place.

One of the largest yachts in show will be the 49m/161ft charter yacht MQ2. A classic Feadship build, she was launched in 1990 and expertly refitted by the Dutch yard just two years ago. Among her highlights are a modern interior with bleached oak panelling and a spacious extendable swim platform.

She will be showcased alongside the 42m/137ft superyacht ‘This Is Us’, a lightweight, high-performance build from Holland Jachtbouw. But, available for charter, the sailing yacht is also optimized for family cruising with a sumptuous interior and a treasure chest of water toys.

Other impressive sailing yachts making an appearance will be the 39m/128ft charter yacht ‘Cinderella IV’ from Dutch boat builders Vitters and the 42m/137ft charter yacht INFATUATION from Jongert – another shipyard based in the Netherlands.

After the show, the attending charter yachts will start their summer cruising seasons, with many expected to be offering private yacht charters throughout the Spanish island-chain of the Balearics, including the up-and-coming superyacht hotspot of Ibiza.
