Video: Superyacht ‘The Beast’ hits the water in New Zealand

Industry news

By Katia Damborsky  8 March 2019

The 40m/130ft motor yacht ‘The Beast’ has been launched by Profab Engineering in New Zealand, and will be available for yacht charters in the South Pacific in the coming months.

Currently holding the title for New Zealand’s largest new build, The Beast hit the water at Foxton Beach yesterday. She was moved from the yard’s facilities in Palmerston North to have her hull and superstructure joined in February.

Suitably named, the Beast has spent 22 months under construction with Profab Engineering and boasts an impressive 12m beam and interior volume of 493GT. She will be able to hold more than 76,000 litres of fuel, which should see about 5,000 nautical miles while cruising between 12 and 13 knots, making her perfectly primed for the adventure-hungry.

With so much on-board space and a catamaran-style design to enhance her seafaring capacity, The Beast will be able to provide spectacular yacht charter vacations to far-flung destinations including Tahiti and the Whitsundays.

Among her exciting range of accessories, she will house plenty of cutting-edge toys, as well as a 9.3 amphibious tender and a 4.5 metre rescue boat.

Launched via a specialised crane on the aft deck, she will also play host to a 12 metre sportfisher to make the most out of her verdant cruising grounds. Guests chartering her can also benefit from a Teppanyaki-style barbecue on the flybridge.

Accommodation is provided for 12 guests across five cabins, including four double cabins that are convertible into twins and one twin cabin with Pullman berths.

The tri-deck superyacht will undergo sea trials in the coming weeks and she is expected to be delivered to an experienced owner in roughly six weeks.
