Video: Feadship launches 58m superyacht NAJIBA

By Rebecca Bradbury   4 January 2019

Dutch shipyard Feadship has launched its first new build of 2019, the 58m/190ft superyacht NAJIBA, in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands.

With a name that means ‘noble’ in Arabic, NAJIBA is the second-largest all-aluminium yacht to be launched by the renowned yard as well as the first Feadship by Vitruvius Yachts, the naval architecture firm founded by celebrated yacht designer Philippe Briand.

As the film clip above reveals, Vitruvius Yachts has created a superyacht with smooth, clean exterior lines and a low profile. Not only does the yacht look good, but she is also extremely energy efficient thanks to the hull design. Fuel consumption is as low as 11 litres per nautical mile at 12 knots.

Briand said: “The owners understood very well that a perfect yacht requires a strong scientific and architectural approach to support the exterior design.”

The interior styling from Christian Liaigre is similarly striking and, according to Briand, can be compared to a ‘whitewashed villa on the beach’. To achieve this look, an abundance of teak is reported to have been used across the guest living areas while the lack of straight lines is another defining quality.

Claudio Cicconetti Atchitetto is behind the general arrangement, which sees one of two master suites located forward on the main deck. Although this position is not unusual, the fact that those on board can see straight through to the main salon from the suite is a very distinctive feature.

This is possible due to the main deck’s open-plan design and the absence of a central staircase, which is in response to the owner’s wishes for a family-friendly motor yacht.

The accommodation comprises six staterooms in total.

M/Y NAJIBA is not expected to be available for charter, but for more information on chartering a Feadship yacht, talk to your preferred charter broker.
