The 2013 NZ Millennium Cup Comes to a Close

By Louise Marsh   21 February 2013

A wonderful evening of cocktails, dancing and prize giving brought the 2013 NZ Millennium Cup to an end on the last day of the regatta.

Yacht owners, crews, guests and sponsors all gathered together to celebrate three terrific days of racing and to congratulate the winner of the NZ Millennium Cup 2013. Fine wine and outstanding food was served to all who attended as they mingled to discuss photo finishes and cruising routes.

The owner/skipper of Sea Toy was awarded a special prize for their fun approach to the regatta and has been appointed ambassador-at-large for all yachts in the 60-80 ft division for the New Zealand Millennium Cup 2014. And it was well earned - from encouraging other yacht owners to enter the regatta to fishing for a mid-race lunch on deck, Sea Toy's owner and guests made a fantastic example of what the Cup is all about.

Janice of Wyoming also picked up a special prize for best exit from Viaduct Harbour, earned by a slingshotted waterbomb volley at her rival yachts, sponsors and spectactors.

Ohana won third place, after battling with Silvertip for the length of the regatta. Silvertip came second overall, also receiving the prize for sportsmanship in honour of her goodwill throughout the race. But the winner of the 2013 New Zealand Millennium Cup was Zefiro, who won two out of the three races.

Fine wine and outstanding food was served to all who attended as they mingled to discuss photo finishes and cruising routes.
