RECAP VIDEO: The Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2015

By Editorial Team   6 October 2015

Yesterday, the 17th edition of the Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez came to a close, with Maria Giovanna II taking the Rolex Trophy across a nail-biting four days of regatta racing – captured in the recap above.

Despite only two thirds of the planned days of racing going ahead, due to poor weather conditions in St Tropez, spirits were high throughout the Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2015, which ran from Saturday 26th September to Sunday 4th October.

Speaking on the event, the President of the Societe Nautique de Saint-Tropez André Beaufils, commented, “We made the best of it. We learn something new each year about the effect the elements have on proceedings and we’ll take that into account more and more in the future. The initial reactions from the competitors are positive, as they understand the difficulties we face when working with Mother Nature.”

In spite of the unsuitable conditions, nothing could deter the spirit of the crews on board a varied fleet of 330 classic and modern sailing yachts as they raced in their respective categories. The President added, “It has certainly been a festive affair as we were able to respond to whatever the weather threw our way and the mindset at the soirées was certainly worthy of Saint Tropez.”

Victor Maria Giovanna II would steal first prize in the final results, ahead of both Namib and Stiren by just the one point, and was awarded the Rolex Trophy by the CEO of Rolex France in a closing ceremony.
