One week countdown to the Monaco Grand Prix 2019

By Katia Damborsky   16 May 2019

Engines are revving, the A-list are preparing, and superyachts are beginning to descend on the French Riviera to host exclusive Monaco Grand Prix yacht charters.

With one week to go until the F1 Monaco Grand Prix 2019, the luxury yachting hub of Monaco is preparing for one of the biggest and most exciting events in the Formula One calendar.

Boasting a thrilling circuit which wraps its way around Port Hercules marina, the Monaco Grand Prix is also a regular date in the diary for the SuperyachtSet and signals the start of the Mediterranean charter season.

The event is one of just two F1 races which can be watched from the glitzy setting of a luxury yacht, and those lucky enough to step on board are placed right in the heart of the action.

Grand Prix attendees can choose to privately hire a superyacht, or indulge in a luxury yacht hospitality package.

With celebrities and superyachts already in town for the Cannes Film Festival, the Grand Prix promises to be a star-studded affair complete with decadent parties and rip-roaring spectacles.

What to expect from the Monaco Grand Prix 2019:

The Monaco Grand Prix is a notoriously demanding street circuit, often described as the ultimate test of driving skills.

It includes plenty of sharp corners, elevation changes and narrow portions that require increased accuracy and precision, as well as the unique challenge of the famous tunnel. Exiting directly alongside the marina, the tunnel puts drivers through their paces as they have to quickly adjust to the dark / light contrast.

Five fixtures in, and competition is stiff. Lewis Hamilton currently holds three wins in the 2019 Championship putting him in first place, with Valterri Bottas coming in second with two wins so far. Both are driving for Mercedes.

Last year’s Monaco Grand Prix winner, Daniel Riccardo, will also be competing, as will F1 heavyweights Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.

Running between 23 - 26 February, practice races will take place on Thursday 23, Qualifying sessions will be held Saturday 25 and the main event, the Grand Prix, is happening on Sunday 26.

The Social Schedule

Alongside the motorsports action, the Monaco Grand Prix transforms the principality into the beating heart of the Cote d’Azur’s party scene.

Those looking for the authentic F1 experience should look no further than Amber Lounge, the iconic pop-up nightlife event that tours alongside the Grand Prix.

This year, it will be hosted at the Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel, and include a fashion show followed by mind-blowing performances from big-name DJ’s, as well as dance troupes, light shows, and a roster of Formula One legends on the guest list.

Lining the marina, yacht parties will be bringing their own signature flair and of glamorous luxury to Monaco, attracting plenty of celebrities and VIP guests.  On board, DJ’s will take to the decks to give intimate performances at private parties, while dazzling entertainment will enliven the ambience.
