Mumbai Set to Have First Marina

By Louise Marsh   22 August 2013

According to a report on Indian TV's website, The Mumbai Port Trust has plans to develop its very first marina.

With luxury yacht charter continuing to increase in popularity in Asia, this new Mumbai port offers an exciting new option to the global charter market. Charter clients looking to embark on an alternative winter vacation in a vibrant and fascinating city full of colour, culture and history can now explore these Indian cruising grounds that have not before been considered a yachting destination.

The new marina is set to change this attitude as well as introduce a potentially prosperous new aspect to India’s tourist industry which has struggled to move forward in recent years. The Trust is currently in the process of looking for a suitable location to build the marina, which is proposed to be a full service facility. Around $8.5m is expected to be invested into the project which plans to include fuelling, repair and maintenance facilities in addition to landside facilities such as cafes, restaurants and offices.
