Monaco Yacht Show 2013 Round-Up

By Editorial Team   8 October 2013

The 2013 Monaco Yacht Show was considered a huge success all-round, signalling a positive development for the luxury yachting industry and in turn the worldwide charter market.

Held from the 25th – 28th of September, the show presented a selection of the world’s largest and most impressive superyachts from the leading brokerages and builders in the industry. The grey weather that hung over Port Hercules did nothing to dampen the spirits of everyone in attendance who went in their droves to view the latest yachts to the market and a packed evening social schedule.

Camper & Nicholsons International kicked off the show in style on the Tuesday evening with their renowned Monaco Yacht Club Soirée. We bumped into some of their brokers the next day at their sleek new interactive stand where they told us that summer 2013 had been a very successful season for the industry and they were feeling confident about the upcoming winter season. Camper & Nicholsons also hosted one of the highlight cocktail evenings on board the 41m (134’5) motor yacht NAMELESS, which turned heads throughout the show and was the setting for a glamorous Cartier event on the Friday.

A few luxury yachts really stood out at this year’s show, including the highly anticipated brand new launch from Heesen - the 65m/213’ GALACTICA STAR as well as the 50m motor yacht QM OF LONDON who unveiled her stunning new refit for the very first time. One of the most surprising highlights was undoubtedly the 73m RED SQUARE, making her first public appearance since her delivery from the Ursa Shipyard in Turkey earlier this year.

A number of exciting new additions to the global charter fleet were available for inspection at the show this year, including the newly launched 60m motor yacht EVENT and the 40m sailing yacht RAINBOW. We also spoke to the Captain of the stunning 41m/134’5 Codecasa charter yacht OURANOS TOO and informed us that he already only a has a few weeks availability left for next summer in the Mediterranean. Although this is great for the luxury charter yacht industry, it shows how important it is to plan ahead in order to get book the perfect yacht and itinerary for you and your guests.
