10 of the best new superyachts to charter in 2019

By Rebecca Bradbury   20 December 2018

Make it your New Year’s resolution to charter a brand new superyacht with our round-up of the latest yachts to have hit the water and entered the charter fleet.

There is something very special about being among the first to charter a recently launched superyacht and, fortunately, in 2019, there will be a fantastic selection of new yachts available for charter across the world, from hotspots in the Mediterranean to some of the remotest corners of the planet.

Here is a list of 10 of the best, from the longest to the shortest.

O’Ptasia

Much excitement surrounded the summer delivery of the 85m/278ft superyacht O’PTASIA as she became the largest yacht ever built by Greek shipyard Golden Yachts, as well as the largest yacht available for charter in Greece – a record she will keep running into 2019.

Featuring exterior and interior styling from Studio Vafiadis, she is jam-packed with modern amenities and entertainment facilities. Among her highlights are a large beach club complete with a spa and wellness centre, a fully-equipped gym on the bridge deck and a touch-and-go helipad on her bow.

Planet Nine

In her first year on the water, the 73m/240ft expedition yacht ‘Planet Nine’ from Admiral Yachts will have ticked off some serious cruising destinations. After spending the summer in the Mediterranean, she will be offering yacht charters in the incredible waters of Patagonia and Antarctica in early 2019.

Designed for extreme conditions, she is one of the best explorer yachts around. Key features include a helicopter, hangar and refuelling capabilities, three custom-built Rupert Marine RIBs, an expansive owner’s deck, a huge beach club with a steam room, a large cinema and sumptuous living spaces.

Solo

One of the most exciting yachts to hit the water in 2018, the 72m/236ft superyacht SOLO from Tankoa Yachts is undertaking her debut charter season this winter. An exceptional combination of performance and luxury, she was named the ‘Most Efficient Yacht’ at the 2018 World Yacht Trophies.

Guests will be wowed by the six-metre pool on the aft deck, the chic beach club and the lower deck spa. Then there is the stunning Margherita Casprini-styled interior with striking stonework, high-gloss Macassar ebony and oak stained in grey and black, and the principal charter will have the domain of an entire deck.

Spectre

Delivered in November, the 69m/227ft superyacht SPECTRE is the latest yacht to be commissioned by experienced owner John Staluppi, who has named all his past vessels after movies from the James Bond film franchise. Those who want to get on board will have to wait until she begins chartering in summer 2019.

The Benetti build focuses on outdoor living, with an inviting sundeck pool and a spacious beach club area for guests to enjoy. Yet performance is a major priority too and she is able to reach an impressive top speed of 21.2 knots, while her interior is said to pay homage to late 19th-century French liberty hotels.

O’Mathilde

Another brand new build from Golden Yachts on the charter scene is the 57m/187ft motor yacht O’MATHILDE. Similarly boasting design from Studio Vafiadis, she will also be cruising in Greece in 2019.

A monochrome colour palette created by dark woods and crisp, white upholstery creates a clean and modern feel throughout the interior. Other top facilities include a foredeck gym with stunning panoramic views and a large sundeck with a Jacuzzi, sun beds and al fresco dining area.

Meira

Travellers looking for a charter escape that combines traditional sailing with modern luxury will be delighted with the 50m motorsailer MEIRA. Built by Turkish yard Neta Marine she boasts a classically-designed profile and cutting-edge amenities, and has been styled inside and out by Evan K Marshall.

A Jacuzzi, four sunbathing areas and a spacious cockpit designed for dining and socialising make up her outdoor spaces, while she is one of the rare yachts in her class with spa facilities (a massage room and sauna). Adding even more finesse is the ebony, Aningeria and walnut-floored interior.

Irisha

Since being delivered, the 51m/167ft superyacht IRISHA has hit the headlines thanks to her award-winning Harrison Eidsgaard interior. Seamlessly flowing spaces have been styled to create a chic and understated look with a grey, beige and blue colour palette, stainless steel accents and colourful artworks.

Yet, the Heesen build has much more to offer, from her radical exterior design featuring curved glass sheets to her inviting deck areas. These include a stunning indoor-outdoor winter garden, a split-level tender garage, a beach club with a sauna and a sundeck providing the ultimate in outdoor living.

Lady M

Showcasing Sunseeker’s distinctive exterior lines and bulwark cutaways, the 40m/131ft superyacht ‘Lady M’ is the newest in the UK yard’s popular 131 range. Although her sundeck and upper deck aft have been lengthened by two metres when compared to her predecessors in the series.

Added deck space will give charterers even more room to enjoy the Mediterranean surrounds but her interior is also a talking point. Designed by London-based Vickers Design Studio, it stands out with a glamorous monochrome theme, ideal for charter guests prioritising style on their private yacht charter.

Due to be delivered from Mulder Shipyard in February 2019, the brand new 34m/118ft superyacht CALYPSO will kick off her very first charter season in the Mediterranean a few months later.

For a yacht of her size, CALYPSO will boast a surprising amount of facilities across her exterior, such as a spa pool with a swim-up bar, a luxe beach club and a choice of al fresco dining areas. Inside, meanwhile, a luxurious beach house-style interior from John Vickers excels in laidback sophistication.

Dinaia

Sanlorenzo’s recently launched 32m/106ft superyacht DINAIA will undertake her very first charter season this summer. Based in Greece, she is ideal for island-hopping adventures thanks to a top speed of 30 knots, deck areas designed for both relaxation and entertaining and modern interiors.

Other highlights include a port-side balcony in the main salon, expansive glazing and a drop-down swim platform from where the ocean, as well as the exciting collection of water toys, can be easily accessed.
