The UK’s offering to the busy calendar of superyacht regattas returns in 2018 as part of Pendennis Shipyard's 30th anniversary celebrations.

Showcasing a mixture of modern and classic sailing yachts, the fifth edition of The Pendennis Cup will take place in Falmouth Bay, Cornwall, in summer 2018. A competitive regatta, the event usually attracts as many as 15 superyachts, which fight it out in challenging UK conditions for the prestigious first place position.

Much anticipation surrounds the upcoming edition as, usually held every two years, the 2016 event was postponed with plans to host the next four-day regatta in 2018 as part of Pendennis Shipyard's 30th anniversary celebrations.

Running from Tuesday through to Saturday, there will be three days of racing, with a lay day on Thursday. Start and finish lines are expected to be located off Pendennis Castle, wtih the racing yachts visible from Pendennis Point and St Mawes Castle.

The cup is renowned for its exciting off-shore programme, which features the best of local cuisine and entertainment, and attendees will be hoping for the return of the Red Arrows, the Royal Air Force’s Aerobatic Team which closed the show with an impressive display in 2014.

A crowd of more than 600 is expected to watch the dramatic on-water spectacle, which is supported by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club and RCYC Events.
