Bay of Islands, New Zealand

23 - 26 Jan 2018

By Rebecca Bradbury

The thrilling superyacht regatta will return to one of the world’s greatest natural playgrounds in January 2018.

Celebrating beautiful cruising grounds, brilliant racing and outstanding hospitality, the NZ Millennium Cup takes place as part of the Bay of Islands Sailing Week in the north east of New Zealand.

Three days of adrenaline-filled racing will see a fine selection of sailing yachts weave their way through challenging courses in the Bay of Islands, competing for the prestigious title.

Last year saw a number of charter yachts participate, with the 32m/104ft charter yacht FARFALLA coming in third behind the faultless 28m/92ft sailing yacht TAWERA and the 40m/130ft sailing yacht ‘Janice of Wyoming’, in first and second place respectively.

The event is also an opportunity to promote the country’s growing presence in the repair and refit industries, as well as to showcase the region’s suitability for extended cruising.
