Guide to Martinique

A mountainous island enriched with alluring scenery and world-class beaches

Offering a striking diversity of landscapes and atmospheres, Martinique is a cosmopolitan and sophisticated island located in the heart of the Caribbean archipelago. The blend of French and West Indian cultures have created a unique island that is raw and untouched, perfect for exploring off and on land during your superyacht charter vacation.

The French Caribbean island offers a multitude of activities to see and do during your time visiting the tropical isle. Wooing its visitors with classic Caribbean beauty, there is something for everyone to enjoy on this island from amazing beaches to great hiking trails, water activities and dolphin watching.

A fantastic place to visit and explore, Martinique is home to an abundance of wild and exotic landscapes that guests are welcomed to venture around. Set sail to the north of the island and you will find the luxuriant rainforest, filled with an assortment of beautiful flora, 100-meter high waterfalls and tremendous views of Mount Pelee volcano. There are more than four hundred different species of trees in Martinique, three times as many as in Europe.

Fuel the adventure inside you as you hike through the rainforest, observing the trailing lianas and overhanging ferns, the forest is an extremely unique and exciting place to visit, especially for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.

The south of the island has its fair share of natural wonders too, offering miles of stunning sandy beaches and idyllic bays that are perfect for snorkeling and admiring the marine life down below the water line. Anse Noir and Anse Dufour are two bays found directly beside each other, Anse Noir is notoriously recognised for its jet black sand; a highlight of many Martinique trips. Just a few minute’s walk around the bay will lead you to Anse Noir’s white-sand sister beach, Anse Dufour. Filled with gorgeous palm trees and soft white sand, these two secluded coves are just a few of the many spectacular beaches on the island.

Finally, don’t leave without trying some local cuisine. Sitting at the bottom of a steep staircase only a few minutes’ walk from the beach lies L’Escale in Anse d’Arlet restaurant. Artistically-plated dishes of excellent French Caribbean cuisine are served nightly here as well as for lunch on weekends. Enjoy the most superb dining experience with loved ones as you reminisce about your exciting day spent exploring aboard your luxury superyacht rental.
