As one of the premiere yachting destinations in the world, the glittering island of St Barts offers an abundance of fantastic restaurants suited to the most discerning of diners. Menus often change daily to guarantee the freshest local ingredients and meals are usually served with a side of breath-taking views and romantic beachfront settings. Here are 10 of the best on the island.

On the Rocks
The world-famous Eden Rock St Barts is home to the internationally recognised On the Rocks restaurant, headed by the world-famous Master Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The setting is glamorous yet in keeping with the relaxed atmosphere of the Caribbean island and boasts fantastic views over the coral reefs and beyond. Fine organic vintages and specially selected wines from Alsace can be found on the wine list and cocktails are served from 5pm. This is a place to be seen as much as to watch the sunset.

Le Case de L’isle
This elegant French-fusion restaurant is famous in St Barts for its breath taking views overlooking the Flamands Bay. Freshly-caught grilled fish is a speciality but there is something to suit everyone with delectable delights ranging from frozen tomato soup to beef tenderloin. The lightness of the cuisine makes it perfect for a late lunch where diners can make the most of the idyllic outlook.

Do Brazil
Do Brazil is co-owned by French singer and tennis star Yannick Noah and overlooks the stunning Shell Beach. The Brazilian theme gives the restaurant more of an edge than others in St Barts and attracts an evening crowd looking to enjoy jazz and cocktails in the open-air bar. The menu is renowned for its delicious ceviche and authentic South American Stews and the series of staircases that connect the restaurant to the beach are lined with tables, perfect for people-watching.

L’Esprit Saline
Since the renowned chef Jean-Claud Dufour took the helm, the L'Esprit Saline has become one of the most fashionable spots on St Barts. Set straight off of the powdery soft Saline beach, this open-air restaurant is open from Wednesday to Monday and serves a globally inspired menu that changes daily to ensure the freshest available local ingredients are used. Outside, there is a beautiful teak-decked garden surrounded by flowers and coconut palms and provides a breath taking spot to watch the sunset.

Restaurant le Gaiac
Widely regarded as one of the best fine dining restaurants in the Caribbean, the Hotel Le Toiny St Barth's Restaurant Le Gaiac ensures a culinary experience at the highest level. Chef Jean-Christophe Gille is highly regarded as a passionate and inspired culinary artist, renowned for his masterful blend of innovative French cuisine with local flavours. The restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and weekly specials include the ‘Tuesday Fish Market’ and the famous ‘Brunch du Toiny’ which has become an island institution on Sunday’s.

La Langouste
If you have a craving for lobster then the tiny beachside restaurant La Langouste at Hotel Baie des Anges is the place to go. Selected straight from the tank and served with a choice of three special sauces, it is the freshest to be found on the island. Located of the beautiful beach of Flamands, diners can enjoy a poolside spot and views over the sea.

Meat & Potatoes
This relatively new restaurant was opened by the former chef of L' Esprit Saline and known for serving some of the best meat in St Barts. The style is modern, chic and relaxed with glossy white surfaces, an open bar and a shaded courtyard. There almost a dozen different cuts of steak on the menu, as well as everything from veal chops to rack of lamb, plus a selection of fresh fish that is equally good.

Maya’s
Over the past 25 years Maya’s has become one of the best known restaurants in the Caribbean so reservations here are essential. Ideally situated on the water's edge in Anse de Public, just outside Gustavia, the restaurant offers uncluttered, straightforward dining in elegant surroundings. The menu is made up of the best that Creole cuisine has to offer, including fresh fish and grilled meats.

La Plage
This trendy beach-front bar is a lunch time favourite for the young and the beautiful. Sprawled along sand-floored dining room, its shabby-chic feel creates a relaxed and charming atmosphere amongst faded pastel furniture and plantation style chairs. Originally created by the esteemed Thierry de Bradereau, Peruvian Chef Paul Coste is now at the helm, combining French Culinary art with Latin flavours to create unique, exquisite styled dishes. La Plage’s theme nights are legendary on the island and the party is in full flow throughout December and January.

Le Tamarin
This Asian-inspired bohemian utopia centres around a majestic Century-old Tamarin tree and offers a distinctly chilled ambience. Guests arrive through a carved wooden entryway into a serene garden setting, peppered with dining tables, seating areas and large sumptuous sofas. The menu combines Gustavian staples of fresh fish and grilled meats, although you'll also find Asian and European influences. The Conch Ravioli and Mahi-Mahi Tartare are a local favourite, followed by drinks under the stars in one of the hammocks.

Please note: Le Temarin is currently closed for maintenance, it will reopen in early November.
