Newport Bucket 2014 to Include Superb Line-Up of Charter Yachts

The countdown for the 2014 Newport Bucket Regatta has begun and this year’s fleet looks set to see a number of the charter market’s most impressive sailing yachts compete for the title.

As one of the world’s most renowned and historic yachting destinations, the Newport Bucket Regatta in New England each year attracts sailing enthusiasts from around the globe. Between the 21st and 24th August, the 2014 event will again welcome some magnificent competing sailing yachts and a host of yacht Owner’s and charterers looking to enjoy the comradery, social schedule and famous ‘Sprit of the Bucket.’

Following her victory at the St Barths Bucket Regatta in March, the 54m/177ft superyacht MARIE is in good stead to put in a good performance. Built in 2010 by the Vitters Shipyard, this beautiful classic ketch epitomises sailing elegance with her traditional while boasting state-of-the-art sailing equipment and technologies. She has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards, most notably the 2011 World Superyacht Awards ‘Best Sailing Yacht’ and offers luxurious accommodation for up to eight guests in four staterooms.

Taking on MARIE will be the 52m/170ft sailing charter yacht METEOR by the acclaimed Royal Huisman Shipyard. Since her launch in 2007 she has been recognised with a flurry of industry awards to include World Superyacht Awards 2008 ‘Sailing Yacht of the Year’ and is already a Newport Bucket winner having taken the title in her class during the 2010 regatta. METEOR also boasts an exceptional charter reputation, known for performance on the water and her classically elegant interior that sleeps up to six guests in three staterooms.

After a handful of second-place finishes, the 38m/125ft Perini Navi sailing yacht P2 will be looking to finally take the crown this year.
